Abstract
1517112 Hub drive brakes NEWAGE ENGS Ltd 14 March 1977 [15 March 1976] 10270/76 Heading F2E A motor-driven shaft 16 journalled in bearings 28, 31 in fixed structure 29, 30 of a reduction gear mechanism drives hub 10 through said gearing 14 and a brake 44 acts between the shaft and the hub, the brake applying force reacting against an abutment 60 on or carried by the shaft and the reaction being transmitted axially through the shaft and bearings 28, 31 to the fixed structure 29, 30. The gearing is of the gyratory epicyclic type having eccentrics 18, 19 on the shaft driving intermediate gear pinions 20, 21 which rotate about reaction pins 35 and mesh with output gear ring 22 secured to the hub. Brake actuation is via lever 59 and a rod extending through the motor 12 and shaft 16.
