Abstract

1516299 Filling bags W J MURRAY ENG Ltd 29 Aug 1975 [30 Aug 1974] 38100/74 Heading B8C [Also in Division G1] A bag filling and weighing machine comprises a frame 28 mounted on a balance beam and carrying, inner jaws 32 which can extend into the mouth of a bag to co-operate with outer jaws 31 to grip a bag wall, and move inwardly to stop the further flow of material into the bag when the bag reaches the desired weight and to release the bag. Rubber flaps 40 extending downwardly from a hopper 13 between the inner jaws. The jaws 31, 32 have rubber gripper pads 34. The inner jaws are moved into a gripping position manually or by an air operated cylinder unit 37 with a valve controlled by a lever 38. The filling machine may be a turret machine having four hoppers 13 and frames 28 movable through a bag loading station, a main filling station with a lifting device 21 to square the bottom of the bag, and a final, slow filling station. A filled bag may be fed to a sewing or a wire closing machine.
