Abstract
1510935 Golf club shaft H P HOGARTH 27 July 1976 31177/76 Heading A6D [Also in Divisions Al and B5] A tubular, tapered golf club shaft comprises successive layers C1-C4 of fibrereinforced thermosetting resin, the fibres being pre-tensioned and non-contacting. Each layer C (Fig. 3) comprises glass, boron or graphite carbon fibres 10 totally surrounded by phenolic, epoxy, or alkyd etc. resin 12. The resin is more elastic than the fibres, which are said to resist parting from the resin on bending of the shaft, due to their pre-tensioning. Fig. 1 shows a shell G and core d used in producing the shaft (see Divisions B4-B5).
