Abstract
1502698 Welding by pressure EVG ENTWICKLUNGS - UVERWERTUNGS GmbH 22 March 1976 [2 April 1975] 11496/76 Heading B3R A resistance mesh welding machine for joining two crossed groups of parallel wires D1, D2, comprises at least two opposed pairs 1, 3 and 2, 4 of co-operating electrodes with one pair disposed on each side of the mesh production plane and the pairs being respectively connected to the secondary windings of transformers 10, 11 with series connected primary windings, in such a way that the current flows through the opposed electrodes and the secondary windings of the transformers in series, so ensuring that no current flows along the individual wires D1, D2. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) two or more parallel connected pairs of electrodes on each side of the mesh production phase are connected in series with each transformer. In an alternative arrangement, one pair of series connected welding stations S1 S2 may be arranged to act on a longitudinal wire D1 and another such pair on an adjacent longitudinal wire. The arrangement of the transverse and longitudinal wires can be altered after each or a predetermined number of mesh feed steps to form a predetermined pattern, and the pairs welding stations may be arranged longitudinally on, as shown, transversely of the mesh feed.
