Abstract
1501134 Machine tool control SIEMENS AG 16 April 1975 [16 April 1974] 15762/75 Heading G3N A digital computer is programmed to cause a machine tool, e.g. a flame cutter, to follow a contour K with a predetermined offset #r. This is particularly intended for abrupt contour changes as on the workpiece W in Fig. 1. The computer Fig. 4 (not shown) receives data, e.g. on punched tape, describing the desired tool contour and using the desired offset, calculates the offset path Sn'. When the contour comes to a change, e.g. at An+ 1, the computer calculates the intersections of the two offset paths. If there is no intersection as in Fig. 1, or only an intersection very distant from the contour Fig. 2 (not shown), then the computer calculates the points AuEn', and E³,A'n+1 and causes the tool to move in a semicircle of radius #r, centered on En,An+1. Similarly in (Fig. 2).
