Abstract
1500769 Composite yarn TOYO BOSEKI KK 27 June 1975 [28 June 1974] 27209/75 Heading D1W Composite spun yarn (see Fig. 6) is formed alternately with one-directional spirals X and two-directional spirals Y, Fig. 4, wherein the length of X is greater than 80 mm and the average length of X minus the average length of Y is greater than zero. A bundle of short fibres 14 is led from a drafting apparatus 9 to a single gas false twist member 7 which false twists the fibres 14 to one direction, and a multifilament yarn of a courseness of less than 50 denier is fed by a roller 10 through preferably a tension controller 12 at a speed faster by 50% to 90% than the feed speed of the fibres 14 and at a tension. As a result the feed point of the yarn 4 reciprocates over a length of 50 mm. along the false-twisted bundle of fibres 14, which is untwisted after its passage through the member 7. As the bundle of fibres 14 is twisted to the direction of the arrow (see Fig. 2) it is given an S-twist rotation and the yarn 4 is wrapped around the periphery of the fibres 14 in the form of spirals as it covers the first part of the reciprocating motion whereby Z-direction torque develops in the yarn 4 which, when it reaches a maximum value, stops the traversing or reciprocating motion of the yarn and the yarn moves over the fibres 14 by the Z-direction torque producing reversed spirals over the already traced spirals until the Z-direction torque becomes zero and the yarn then obtains an S-direction torque. An anti-ballooning device 8 is provided. The false twist member 7 may be of the air vortex type. If the bundle of short fibres 14 is fed at high speed the tension controller 12 may be dispensed with in which case the action of the friction roller 10 produces sufficient tension on the yarn. The air feeder 11 may be positioned before or after the roller 10. The short fibres 14 may be composed of cotton fibres, wool fibres, acrylic fibres, or a blend of polyester fibres and cotton fibres. The multifilament yarn 4 may be composed of polyester filaments or polyamide filaments. Two multicolour-dyeable polyester filament yarns may represent the yarn 4 or two multifilament yarns, one polyamide yarn and the other a polyester yarn, are used as the multifilament yarn 4.
