Abstract
150,052. Villiers, E. C. May 24, 1919. Hulls, cleaning mechanically.-A trolly or traveller comprises a framework with wheels or endless tracks as tractive means which are caused to adhere by magnetic attraction to a surface susceptible to magnetism over which the trolly is caused to pass. The device is stated to be suitable for cleaning, painting and otherwise treating ships' hulls and gasometers. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the trolly comprises a framework a supporting wheels e driven by a motor d', a rotary scrubber d and a paint sprayer g. The wheels have a double flange within which is located a coil through which an electric current is passed. In a modification, an endless track h, Fig. 3, comprising overlapping plates held by pins i is carried by sprocket wheels k, one of which is spring-suspended. The coil f is arranged to pass between the tracks. In a further modification, the track is divided into three parts and the coil which is confined to the lower part passes between the sectors.
