Abstract

The roof-rack has one or more tubes (3) which extend transversely to the direction of travel of the vehicle and at least one of which is provided with an air-permeable cover (6) essentially over its entire length. The inside circumference of the cover (6) is larger than the outside circumference of the tube (3). Thus at least one air pocket (8) is produced between the cover (6) and the outside surface of the tube (3) during travel by the stream of air caused by the slipstream. During travel, the stream of air flows against the reticulate cover (6) and penetrates it, so that it passes over the outside surface of the tube (3) at at least one point. The cover muffles the noises produced by the tube during travel. <IMAGE>
