Abstract

1432015 Packaging apparatus AQUITAINE TOTAL EMBALLAGE 30 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 15458/73 Heading B8C In packaging apparatus, a heat-sealable web 2 passes over a hollow mandrel 3 and is longitudinally sealed by rollers 5 to form a tube into which articles 4 pass through mandrel 3, the tube being transversely sealed between the articles by heating and cutting jaws 6 which are notched to provide air channels 7. The base seal 8 is folded and adhered to the package to provide a flat bottom, while the top seal is rolled up and fixed with adhesive. The sealing and cutting jaws 6 operate at an asymmetrical position between adjacent articles, the shorter end of each package providing the base.
