1422492 Boarding and inspecting hosiery S LEONHARDT 18 Jan 1974 [20 Jan 1973] 02486/74 Heading D1S A boarding or examining form 1 for stockings or pantihose is provided with endless belt drives 3 along both longitudinal sides of the form, the belts being guided by pulleys 4 within the form contour. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a transparent plastics stocking form is provided with two circular-section endless rubber belts 3 of each of which only one run 5 protrudes out of the form and which are driven by a motor (not shown). When the top opening of a stocking is offered to the board from below, the belts 3 running in the direction of arrows 7 grip and draw the stocking onto the form. The belt drive is switched off, e.g. by the automatic control of a photo-electric cell. The stocking may be inspected by a light source arranged within the form or may be heat treated either by an internal heating device or by introducing the form into a heating chamber. After treatment, the stocking is removed from the form by movement of the belts 3 in the direction opposite to the arrows 7. Additional guide rollers 3a may be arranged at the free end of the form. An ejector plate, 6b, mounted on a ram 6a driven by a piston drive 6c, strikes the foot end of the stocking to ensure satisfactory removal. An attachment 8, Fig. 3, having belt drives 9 may be pivotally mounted on the form and is movable from the full line position to a position 8a to stretch the foot section of the stocking. A form for pantihose, Figs. 4 and 6, comprises two adjacent forms with an additional belt drive 11 arranged therebetween to grip and fold over the pantie section 12 during withdrawal of the pantihose. The drive 11 is pivotally mounted so that during loading of the hose it remains outside the region of the forms. The forms may be disposed obliquely to one another so that they lie closer together at their free ends than at their fixed ends.
