Abstract

1417729 Current-collectors LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-GmbH 22 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 59350/72 Heading B7L A two-stage semi-scissor current collector comprises a low mass first stage 6 consisting of pivoted struts 9, 9<SP>1</SP> supporting a double bow 2, and a high mass second stage 12 consisting of struts 11, II<SP>1</SP>, the struts of the first stage being controlled by a double-acting hydraulic ram 4 supplied with pressure fluid from a pump 8 driven by an hydraulic motor 7 supplied through lines 14 and 15 or by an electric motor powered from overhead line 1, the ram 4 causing the contact pressure of the bow to be constant by comparing the actual pressure as measured by sensor 3 with a desired pressure. A compressed air cylinder 13 controls stage 12 and insulators 16, 17 support the collector on a vehicle roof. A controller adjusts the supply of pressure fluid to ram 4 on dependence of the difference in the actual and desired pressure of the bow on line 1, the controller feeding a signal to a valve in a by-pass channel of pump 8. An alternator driven by motor 7 may supply current to the control apparatus.
