Abstract

1416624 Boring earth &c SOIL STABILISATION Ltd 13 Feb 1973 6983/73 Heading E1F An under-reamer has pivotally-connected arms 16, 17 connected to a foot 11 for abutment with the lower end of a bore hole and a head 2 for attachment to a drill string (not shown). The head and foot are moved relatively towards each other by the application of pressure on the head 2 by the drill string against the action of a compression spring 19. Cutters 22 are provided on the arms. More than two blades may be provided in each set (not shown), and a plurality of underreamers may be used suitably spaced along a drill string.
