Abstract

1413901 Drying articles I SCHUBERT, A SCHUBERT and F SCHUBERT [trading as E HEINE NACHF & INH ALFRED SCHUBERT KG] 23 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 9128/73 Heading F4G A method of drying an article comprises placing the article in a boiler which is then hermetically sealed, boiling water in the boiler to produce on predetermined elevated steam pressure, allowing the article to dry in the steam for a predetermined time with the temperature of the steam falling, discharging the steam from the boiler and then allowing air to circulate about the article to finish the drying process. The apparatus for carrying out the method has a plurality of accommodation plates each covered with a porous stone to form a condensation shield. Water is supplied to the boiler by a pump 11 and discharged from the boiler through a valve 14. The water is heated by a thermostatically controlled oil fired system 14, the system also being controlled indirectly from a heat sensitive element (17). Steam is discharged through a valve 29 and a fan 26 is provided to create the circulation of air which air enters the boiler through a valve 20. The boiler is provided with a flue gas jacket 21 and an insulated lid.
