Abstract

1405058 Line-by-line copying INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 30 May 1973 [19 June 1972] 25820/73 Heading G2A In line-by-line copying on an electrophotographic drum, a stationary original is scanned by at least one band of light produced from a point source (having an intensifying and directing reflector). A stationary paraboloid reflector may reflect light from a stationary lamp 69 on to a single scanning parabolic reflector, Fig. 2a, or a pair of scanning parabolic reflectors 64 and 66, Fig. 2b; alternatively, the paraboloid reflector may be dispensed with and a scanning lamp 102 and parabolic/elliptical reflector 106 may be employed, Fig. 4b. A mask may be situated between reflectors 65 and 67. A plane mirror (71), Fig. 1 (not shown), is carried on the same carriage as the scanning reflector. A pair of compensating plane mirrors (73 and 75) are carried on a second carriage (moving at half the speed of the first). The first carriage is driven by a capstan in synchronism with the rotation of the drum. The optical system also comprises a lens (56), stationary plane mirror (77) and slit (57).
