Abstract
1404544 Polyolefin compositions IDEMITSU KOSAN KK 15 June 1973 [17 June 1972 25 Sept 1972] 28607/73 Heading C3P Moulding compositions comprise (1) 100 parts by weight of an olefin polymer resin, (2) 30 to 400 parts by weight of inorganic filler and (3) a modifier which is a combination of (A) a metal salt of a C 10 -C 20 fatty acid and (B) at least one aliphatic compound selected from C 10 -C 20 paraffins, C 10 -C 20 alcohols, polyhydric alcohol esters and amides of C 10 -C 20 fatty acids, fatty acid esters of polyethylene glycol and polybutenes. The resin may be polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, ethylene/propylene, ethylene/vinyl acetate or styrene/butadiene copolymers or polyethylene/ polybutadiene blends. The filler may be tale, clay, zinc oxide, or calcium carbonate, sulphite, sulphate or silicate. The metal salt may be a calcium, zinc or lead salt of stearic, lauric or olefinic acids. The aliphatic compound may be paraffin or microcrystalline wax, liquid paraffin, ethylene oligomer, stearyl or palmityl alcohol, glycerol ester of hydroxystearic acid, stearamide, polyethylene glycol monostearate or polybutene. Examples describe compositions comprising polypropylene and calcium stearate together with calcium sulphite and paraffin wax, liquid paraffin, polyethylene glycol monostearate, stearyl and palmityl alcohols and stearamide; with tale and paraffin wax and glycerol hydroxystearate; with calcium carbonate and paraffin wax; with zinc oxide and paraffin wax; with clay and paraffin wax; and with calcium sulphate and paraffin wax and polyethylene glycol fatty acid ester; and compositions comprising polyethylene, calcium stearate, paraffin wax and calcium carbonate.
