Abstract

1498009 Measuring in three co-ordinatesmeasuring angles NEWALL ENG CO Ltd 29 May 1975 [6 March 1974] 10103/74 Headings G1M and G1X A cylinder 3 rotatable about a vertical pin 2 supports a pin 7 about which an arm 6 counterbalanced at 10 may pivot, and a pin 9 carried by the arm 6 provides a pivot for a counter-balanced arm 8 mounting a probe 14. The angles # 1 , # 2 , # 3 moved by the parts are measured substantially instantaneously by optical grating, magnetic or other means providing signals which are fed in electronic digital form to a small digital computer which feeds a signal to three axis decimal display units giving cartesian co-ordinates on x, y and z axes. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the vertical cylinder (17) upstanding from the base has a radial arm (17a) supporting at its end another vertical cylinder (20) mounting a pair of parallel arms (22, 24) pivoted at their other ends to a probe carrier (26) supporting a probe (29) for rotation about a vertical axis (28).
