1492392 Spot-type disc brakes; slackadjusting GIRLING Ltd 16 Jan 1975 [31 Jan 1974 25 June 1974] 18202/77 Divided out of 1492391 Heading F2E The disclosure is identical with that of the parent case. Here, there is claimed: a mechanical actuator for a vehicle brake comprising two relatively-rotatable components (17, 18) in axial co-operative relationship with each other through at least one helically-inclined surface, e.g. (24), so that rotation of one of the components in an appropriate direction relative to the other effects axial displacement of one component relative to the other for producing a brake-applying thrust, an automatic adjuster mechanism having first and second adjuster members (22, 20, respectively) in screw-threaded engagement with each other, and means (38, 36) for effecting relative rotation between the first and second adjuster members responsively to a requirement for adjustment, the adjuster mechanism being so arranged that the brakeapplying thrust is transmitted through the first and second adjuster members, and means (39, 40, 44) in operative relationship with the means (38, 36), for preventing over-adjustment in response to brake deflection upon heavy brake application by relative rotation between the actuator components (17, 18).
