Abstract
1486622 Space heaters ELEKTRO-STANDARD AB 25 Oct 1974 [12 Nov 1973] 46295/74 Heading F4S In a space heater in which a heat conducting wall confines a heating fluid or other heat source the external surface layer 1 of the wall consists of material of relatively low thermal conductivity as compared with a metal, this material being in heat conducting contact with an interior surface layer 2 of the wall consisting of a material (e.g. metal) of relatively high thermal conductivity. The intention is to avoid the risk of burn injuries to persons who might come into contact with the said external surface of the wall, and also to reduce any local temperature increase in the event that a heat-insulating object 3 such as a piece of upholstered furniture is left in contact with the heater wall. Suggested materials for the said external surface comprise woven textile materials or non-woven textile materials the fibres of which may be hardened with or embedded in synthetic resin, felted cloth, and flock material, e.g. glued to the layer 2. When a textile material is utilized it may be made removable, e.g. for cleaning or replacing.
