Abstract

1475972 Battery terminals VARTA BATTERIE AG 22 Dec 1975 [21 Dec 1974] 52398/75 Heading H1B [Also in Division H2] An insulating accumulator terminal assembly comprises a terminal post 2 connected and sealed through the cover 1 of the accumulator by a nut 4 of synthetic resin and a sealing washer 3 e.g. of polychloroprene. A conductive hollow cylinder 5 of e.g. copper is cast into the post and the bared end of an insulated cable 9 crimped therein for electrical and mechanical connection. An insulating cap 6 extends around the post, cylinder and cable, and the space enclosed by the cap is filled with an insulating material 11 e.g. polyurethane or a cold setting synthetic resin. The cover 1 is of a synthetic resin e.g. polypropylene and is secured to the base by adhesive or welding and the cap 6 may be of the same material or for example of polystyrene. An auxiliary conductor 7 is cast into the material 11 and has a flat terminal 8 covered by a cap 12. The cap can be removed for electrical access to the terminal.
