Abstract
1475688 Pivot joints SILENTBLOC Ltd 5 June 1974 [6 June 1973 3 April 1974] 27038/73 and 14868/74 Heading E2F [Also in Division F2] A resilient bush for use as a pivot joint comprises an axially extending inner member 10 situated within and spaced from the bore of an outer member 11 with the interposition of an intermediate resilient assembly which affords annular end portions 14, 15 having between them and abutting them a ring 17 of a material of substantially higher resistance to compression than that of the end portions 14 15, the ring 17 being in contact with the inner member 10 but being separated from the bore of the outer member 11 by an annular space 20, each of the end portions 14, 15, being in contact with both the inner 10 and outer 11 members over an axial region which extends axially substantially to a radial plane contacting the end of the ring 17. There may be three resilient members 36 and two rings 22, Fig. 3 (not shown). The ring may be metallic or of plastics, e.g. nylon, and may be reduced along a diameter or in Fig. 6 (not shown) to give asymmetrical characteristics.
