Abstract
146,763. Wilson, A. E., and Callender's Cable & Construction Co. Oct. 17, 1919. Sleeve couplings.-In plumbed sleeve joints for lead-covered cables, lead rings are employed as foundations for the lead sleeve which are capable of being fixed to the lead covering of the cables without solder, and have means whereby their correct position is indicated. The lead ring c, Figs. 1 and 4, has a saw cut sleeve projection f which may be bound to the cable by wire h or secured by a clamp j, and projections k which in conjunction with the trimmed end of. the lead covering serve to position the ring. A modified ring with interior clamping means comprising a divided projection s and screws t is shown in Fig. 8, the inner end of the projection s acting as the positioning means. The lead sleeve d is beaten down on to the rings c and plumbed joints are made over the sleeve and rings.
