Abstract
1462188 Pipe couplings BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 20 Sept 1974 [29 Sept 1973] 45667/73 Heading F2G A pipe coupling comprises a first pipe 1 have ing a resilient annular bead 2 at its end, and a second pipe 3 formed with a groove 5 to receive the bead 2 of the first pipe, the arrangement being such that an assembly and pressurization of the pipes 1, 3 on exterior surface 6 on the pipe 1 will be urged radially outwards into sealing engagement with an interior surface 7 of the pipe 3. The pipes are preferably of a glass cloth impregnated with silicone rubber, and the pipe 3 is also formed with an end bead 4, a restraining band 10 of stainless steel being located between the bead 4 and the exterior bulge formed by the groove 5 in the pipe 3. In alternative constructions the bead 4 may be internally reinforced with a stainless steel band.
