Abstract

1461112 Moulded tray KEYES FIBRE CO 21 May 1974 [25 June 1973] 22529/74 Heading B8P A moulded open top tray for use in packaging products comprises a base portion 16, a plurality of hollow posts 24 tapering upwardly from the base portion, openings 26 through the base portion between the posts defining lower viewing windows, and the hollow posts being truncated defining upper viewing windows 28 and providing product support rims 30 whereby when a product is packaged in the tray portions thereof located over a post are visible through windows 28 and portions not located over a post are visible through windows 26. As described the tray is moulded from wood and/or paper pulp to be of generally rectangular shape with outwardly flared side walls 18 having a lip 22. The posts 24 are of circular section and are arranged in rows alternating with rows of the openings 26. Inverted channel section ribs 32 and 36 of the same height as the posts are provided between the openings 26, and between the posts 24 and side walls 18 respectively. Solid lugs 34 are provided between ribs 32 and posts 24, and lugs 38 are provided on ribs 36 to form spacers when a plurality of the trays are nested together.
