Abstract

1455295 Bolted joints; structural joints A B COMENS 1 April 1974 [4 May 1973] 21431/73 Headings F2H and F2M Two members 28, 30 such as knock-down furniture components are joined by a screw 10 extending through or from the member 30 into the member 28 and engaging a plug 12 housed in a recess 36 in the member 28, the plug 12 being a cylindrical plastics body 18, e.g. of nylon, with a bore 20 to receive the screw 10 and a recess 22 which non-rotatably houses a metal nut 24 with which the screw 10 is engaged. The bore 20 extends diametrically through the plug 18. The nut may be hexagonal, or any suitable non-circular shape. In Fig. 4, not shown, a hexagonal recess (38) in the side of the plug 12 receives a hexagonal nut (40).
