Abstract

1450688 Panels W KUHN 21 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 44325/73 Heading E1B [Also in Division F2] A framework structure comprises bars 51, having coupling elements 52 housed in each end, and connector pieces 55 in the form of polyhedra bearing faces of the same shape as the cross section of the bars, the coupling elements 52 being attached to the connector pieces 55 by spring biassed set screws 53 which are operated by a special tool 60 inserted through holes 58 on the bars. The coupling elements 52 can be adjusted axially at the bars on a screw. Male-like units 61 may be used to fill the gaps between the framework. Channels in the surfaces of the bars enable tube like packing elements 62 to be used between the plates and the bars, and these elements may be coated with a thermosetting adhesive. The packing elements 62 may engage recesses 63 in the plates to secure them. The faces of the polyhedra may be of more than one size or shape to enable bars of different cross section or shape to be joined.
