Abstract
1449779 Controlling width of glass sheet CENTRAL GLASS CO Ltd 14 Nov 1974 [14 Nov 1973] 49332/74 Heading C1M The width of a glass band made by a float process is controlled by detecting visible radiation from the band edges to produce, electrical edge position signals, converting these signals into a signal representing the width of the band and regulating the position of the tweel at the glass melt inlet to maintain the width signal substantially constant. The float glass chamber has an inert gas therein, the band is taken off the melt by rollers and the edge detectors and the width signal generator are arranged to emit a warning signal when any signal produced is outside preselected limits.
