1447710 Polypropylene film supports KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd and CHISSO CORP 28 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973 (2)] 03846/64 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions G2-G3] Supports for photographic materials are made from compositions comprising (1) a propylene polymer as main resin component, (2) 15 to 35 weight per cent of talc, (3) 3 to 15 weight per cent of titanium white and (4) 0À1 to 5 weight per cent of a fatty acid metal salt. The propylene polymer may be a homopolymer or copolymer with a minor proportion of ethylene or other α-olefin, and may be blended with minor proportions of polyethylene, polyisobutylene or ethylene/propylene rubber. The salt may be a lithium, magnesium, calcium, zinc or aluminium salt of stearic, palmitic or oleic acid. The compositions may also contain stabilizers, fillers, antistatic agents, brighteners and plasticizers, and may be formed into sheets by extruding and contacting with a chill-roll. Examples describe sheets made from compositions comprising polypropylene, 2,6-di-t-butyl-p-cresol, tale, titanium white and (1) lithium, magnesium, zinc, sodium, lead, barium and calcium stearate, and aluminium monostearate, monopalmitate and monoerucate; and (2) zinc stearate. The surfaces of the supports may be flame or corona discharge treated.
