Abstract

1440941 Wrapping sweets; rotary and endless conveyers ROSE FORGROVE Ltd 17 Dec 1973 [6 Jan 1973] 870/73 Headings B8C and B8A Apparatus for feeding sweets and wrappers to be wrapped comprises a sweet feed conveyer 42, a plurality of pushers 57 which transfer the sweets from the conveyer 42 to a pocketed wrapping conveyer 87, means feeding wrappers 64 into the path of transfer of the sweets so that each wrapper is folded into a U-shape around a sweet as they enter a pocket of the conveyer 87, a nipping member 58 pivotally mounted to each pusher and resiliently urged to nip the wrapper against the sweet, and means to pivot each nipping member out of the path of movement of the wrapping conveyer after the sweet is located therein. The pushers are mounted on planet gears which are supported by a rotable disc 52 and are rotated by a sun gear such that the pushers maintain their vertical orientation. The pivoting means for each nipping member comprises a cam on the disc 52. Gripper jaws 72, 73 on a wheel 69 feed the wrapper sheets after they have been cut from a web on to the top of the sweets being transferred by the pushers. Each wrapper is folded into a tube around the sweets and the end of the tube either folded down or twisted.
