Abstract

1335915 Casting machines DEMAG AG 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 21191/71 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for casting anode plates comprises a melt supply 1, moulds 12 and 13, and vessels 5, 8 and 9 located between the melt supply and the moulds, each vessel having a pouring spout 6, 7 and 24 and being supported on means for indicating the weight of each vessel and its contents. The smaller vessels 8 and 9 are each supported by a column 25 whose base rests on a force analyser 38. Pivoting of the vessels about a pivot 27 is brought about by operation of a piston and cylinder unit 33. The larger vessel 5 is supported by a frame 21 which rests on a frame 56 which in turn rests on several force analysers 57, 58 located at the corners of the frame. It may be tilted about journals 54 so that molten metal contained therein is discharged either through spout 6 into vessel 8 or through spout 7 into vessel 9. The moulds 12 and 13 are located on casting wheels 10 and 11 respectively. The force analysers 38 enable the amount of metal supplied to each mould from the vessels 8 and 9 to be accurately measured, pouring being stopped when a given weight loss is registered.
