Abstract

1333249 Device for taking dental impressions J C R KONDOLFF 16 Oct 1970 [19 Dec 1969] 49377/70 Heading A5R A ring for use in making impressions in the making of false teeth is substantially cylindrical and made of a calcinable thermoplastic material. The cervical end of the ring is adapted to be fitted onto a tooth stump to abut the gum and the ring is made of a thermoplastic material which can be deformed at 40‹-50‹C to conform to the shape of the stump at its cervical end. The ring has a length between 8 mm and 12 mm and a wallthickness of not more than 0.6 mm. In use the ring 1 is heated until in a deformable state and located over a tooth stump 2 and a top impression made in a tray 6 of impression material 5. A cast model is made from the impression and the ring now carried by the model is filled with a polymerisable resin to obtain the configuration of the stump. A bite surface is then formed on the outer surface of the resin while still plastic.
