Abstract
1332766 Triazolo-benzodiazepines UPJOHN CO 3 May 1972 [18 June 1971] 20656/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds (II) (including N-oxides and/or salts thereof) where R is C 3 to C 8 cycloalkyl, R 1 is H, C 1 to C 3 alkyl, OH or acetoxy, A is C 5 to C 7 cycloalkyl, optionally substituted phenyl (up to two substituents selected from halogen, alkyl, NO 2 , CN, CF 3 , alkoxy, alkylthio, alkyl-SO-, alkyl-SO 2 -, NH 2 , dialkylamino and alkanoylamino), pyridyl or pyrimidyl, and R 4 and R 5 are H or substituent(s) as defined for the foregoing phenyl group, are made by reacting (I) with R.CONHNH 2 ; a 5-N-oxide (II) can be acetylated to give (II) where R 1 is acetoxy (the N-oxide group is simultaneously removed) and hydrolysis of the acetoxy compound gives (II) where R 1 is OH. Pharmaceutical preparations exhibiting sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant, tranquillizing and muscle relaxant effects contain (II) as active ingredient. Administration may be orally, rectally or parenterally. Fluosilicic acid addition salts of (II) are mothproofing agents and the trichloroacetates act as herbicides.
