Abstract
1328969 Paper making apparatus BELOIT CORP 29 Oct 1970 [9 Jan 1970] 51485/70 Heading D2A Apparatus for forming a fibrous web comprises opposed wires F1, F2 extending round breast rolls 15, 16 which are adjustable for varying the stock-receiving gap G formed between them, then over a guide 17, having an elongated smooth stationary surface, and a guide 19 formed as a suction roll. An adjustable headbox 11 feeds stock to the gap G through a slice chamber 11a in which are flexible members 12 forming converging channels 13, see Specification 1228248. The gap G is wider than the jet of stock entering it, and the jet may contact the wire F2 first. The wires F1, F2 may be of bronze, steel, copper, plastics or fabric, or a plurality of these materials, and they extend over rolls 15a, 16a and are tensioned at Tl, T2. The suction roll 19 has three compartments 19a, 19b, 19c subject to progressively less suction. Motors M1, M2 drive the wires synchronously at substantially the speed of the jet of stock. Savealls Sa have doctors 20, 20a engaging the wires. Water from the savealls may be returned to the headbox. A pick-up felt PF receives the web from the wire F2 for transfer to a press section.
