Abstract
1327042 Oxazole derivatives LILLY INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 Oct 1970 [5 Nov 1969] 54290/69 Heading C2C Novel oxazole derivatives of the Formula I wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H, C 1-6 alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, or additionally, when R<SP>2</SP> is H, may be CF 3 or COX, where X is C 1-6 alkoxy or NH 2 ; and R and R<SP>2</SP>, which may be the same or different, are C 1-6 alkyl, aryl or substituted aryl or additionally R<SP>2</SP> may be H, are prepared by reacting the corresponding 2-amino-oxazoles with isocyanates of the formula RNCO. Alternatively compounds of the above Formula I in which X is NH 2 may be obtained by reacting the corresponding compounds in which X is C 1-6 alkoxy with ammonia. 2 - Amino - 4 - trifluoromethyloxazole is made by refluxing bromotrifluoroacetone with urea in t-butanol. 2 - Amino - 4 - ethoxycarbonyloxazole is obtained by refluxing ethyl bromopyruvate with urea in ethanol. Pharmaceutical compositions, having antiinflammatory activity and suitable for oral, rectal or parenteral administration, contain at least one of the above novel compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable diluents or carriers therefor.
