Abstract

1324967 Electroless nickel plating INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 3 Feb 1972 [15 March 1971] 5077/72 Heading C7F An electroless Ni, Ni-Fe or Ni-Co hypophosphite bath contains a metal alkoxide. The metal may be Na, K, Li, Ba, e.g. sodium ethoxide or methoxide. The bath may comprise (g/l) NoCl 2 -6H 2 O 25 to 30, NH 4 Cl 45 to 55, NaH 2 PO 2 H 2 O 30 to 50, Na 2 C 4 H 4 O 4 . 6H 2 O 16 to 20, NaO CH 3 2À7 to 21À6, NH 4 OH to adjust pH 7 to 9, temperature 18 to 50‹ C. The alkoxide may be first mixed with the hypophosphite. The substrate may be glass, epoxy resin or paper. The Ni: H 2 PO 2 ratio is preferably 0À35 to 0À29.
