Abstract

1319945 Hydrofoil craft TSENTRALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO PO SUDAM NA PODVODNYKH KRYLIYAKH 24 April 1971 11218/71 Headings B7A and B7M In a craft having hydrofoils arranged one in front of the other, the fore hydrofoil 3 includes side portions 3b the upper extremeties of which are above waterline 6 at cruising speed and the centre portion 3a is at a submerged depth in excess of half a chord of the fore hydrofoil as measured at the intersection of the fore hydrofoil with the water surface at that cruising speed. The side portions have diminishing dihedral angles in the outward athwartships direction. The central portion of the fore hydrofoil has dihedral angles not greater than the maximum dihedral angle of the side portions. The craft shown has a stabilizing foil 8 mounted above and aft of the fore hydrofoil and which has a span not less than the width of the craft in that region.
