Abstract

1319283 Finned-tube heat exchangers G SCHOLL 12 June 1970 [13 June 1969 31 July 1969 16 Feb 1970] 28459/70 Heading F4S [Also in Division B3] A heat exchanger tube 2 is provided with transverse fins bonded to the tube by metal 9 (e.g. aluminium) cast between the tube and the fin. Each fin comprises a pair of identical, flat, rectangular plates 1, and each fin plate has a recess 3, Fig. 1, to accommodate the tube and at the periphery of the recess are notches 6 which are filled by the cast metal. The tube cross-section may be circular, elliptical or of generally triangular shape, Fig. 10, and each fin may be bonded to more than one tube. A method of making the finned tubes is described see Division B3.
