Abstract

1314624 Aerials BARRACUDAVERKEN AB 4 May 1971 12959/71 Heading H4A Pliable radar camouflage incorporates a single thin inhomogeneous conductive layer having a resistance per square at operating frequencies between 2 and 20 GHz of less than 308 ohms or more than 461 ohms. The reason for avoiding the free space value 377 ohms/square is to ensure reflection of at least 10% of incident radiation. The conductive layer may be constituted by a metal film formed with apertures, or a metallic grid, or short metal fibres or metal-covered fibres (e.g., synthetic monofilaments), or a colloidal like dispersion of particles (e.g. graphite). A flexible sheet of suitable fabric or other material forms a base for the conductive layer, and said sheet may be faced with optical and/or infra-red camouflage. Cuts may be made in the sheet such that a pull when it is extended produces a three-dimensional effect, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
