Abstract

1313754 Multi-position switches CLARKE & SMITH MFG CO Ltd 17 April 1970 [17 April 1969] 19617/69 Heading H1N A joystick control switch has an operating lever 10 which is rotatable about a pivot point 12 between two portions of the lever, the first (upper) portion of the lever being manually displaceable and the second portion of the lever carrying a longitudinally slidable spring biased member 24 which engages a gate member 18 defining a plurality of indexed lever positions in guide passages 28, 30, 32, 34 in which the lever 10 operates respective microswitch units 36, 38, 40, 42. The end button 54 of the lever 10 may be depressed to move a rod 52 inside the lever and when the latter is in a position to operate microswitch 36 the lower end of the rod 52 can engage a lever 48 to acutate a microswitch 44 and latch itself on a leaf spring 58 until the lever 10 is moved to its central position. Fig. 6 shows an alternative arrangement of index guides 62, 64, 66, 68 with respective microswitches 72, 74, 76, 78 of which microswitches are actuated when pivoted levers 80, 82 are engaged by the lever 10. Further microswitches (Fig. 5, not shown) may be operated by depression of the button 54 in the central and guide 68 positions.
