Abstract

1309454 Condensates of diamines, aldehydes and phenols REICHHOLD-ALBERT-CHEMIE AG 10 June 1970 [19 June 1969] 28044/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Condensates are prepared by reacting diamines, aldehydes and phenols, e.g. by heating at 80-150‹ C. In an example 1 mole of 70/30 (by wt.) 1,3- and 1,4-bis-(aminomethyl)benzene is reacted with 0À7 moles aqueous HCHO and 1 mole of phenol. The product is a mixture of compounds of general formula Other condensates are prepared from (70/30) 1,3- and 1,4-bis-(aminomethyl)-cyclohexane, phenol and HCHO (1 : 1 : 0À6 moles); 2,2,4- and 2,4,4 - trimethylhexamethylenediamine, phenol and HCHO (1 : 1 : 0À8 moles); 2,2,4- and 2,4,4 - trimethylhexamethylenediamine, 1,3- and 1,4 - bis - (aminomethyl)cyclohexane, phenol and HCHO (0À5 : 0À5 1 : 0À7 moles); 1,4 - bis - (aminomethyl)cyclohexane, phenol and HCHO (1 : 1 : 0À7 moles) and a 1 : 1 : 1 molar product of (70/30) 1,3- and 1,4-bis- (aminomethyl)cyclohexane, phenol and HCHO. The products are useful curing agents for epoxy resins (see Division C3).
