Abstract

1306079 Guard for universal joint ATKINSONS OF CLITHEROE Ltd 14 July 1970 [19 Sept 1969] 46350/69 Headings F2J and F2U Universal joints 12, 13, of the Hooks type as shown are guarded by sheaths 10, 21 the former supported on a member 11 by balls 16 or pads running in a race 15 while the latter is floatingly mounted on a shaft 14. The sheath 10 is masked by an end piece 20. The sheaths are shaped so that even with wide angle movement they do not foul each other and yet continuously mask the adjacent coupling member. The inner sheath is made with two identical halves meeting on a plane passing through the longitudinal axis and connected by dowels and holes.
