Abstract
1398521 Lighting fittings MERCHANT ADVENTURERS Ltd 2 June 1972 [4 June 1971] 19082/71 Heading F4R A lighting fitting such as a lampshade comprises a plurality of identical elements 1 interconnected by snap-connector members 5 to form a stacked array, each element having a band-like part parallel to and spaced from the band-like parts of adjacent elements and being provided with at least two of the members 5 each of which has a socket 6 at one end and a spigot 8 at the other end for engagement with an interference fit in the socket of the corresponding member of an adjacent element. Each band-like part consists of a cylindrical sleeve 2 and an inwardly directed flange 3 joined together by an outwardly concave curved portion 4, the elements being made of any suitable transparent, translucent or opaque material and the array having the form of a right-circular cylinder, as shown, or a cylinder of triangular, square, rectangular or polygonal cross-section. A spider 11 is provided for securing the shade to a lampholder, the legs of the spider having apertures 12 adapted to fit over the members 5 of one of the elements. Adaptor rings (14) may be provided for insertion in the central aperture 13 of the spider to engage smaller lampholders, a lampholder cord-grip fitting or a suspension rod. In a modification the array, instead of being cylindrical, is of planar, faceted or trough-like shape and may span an alcove or corner of a room.
