Abstract
1395094 Purifying I C engine exhaust gases DAIMLER-BENZ AG 14 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 7195/73 Heading F1B Exhaust gases are catalytically reduced, air is added and then the exhaust gases are catalytically oxidized. Prior to oxidation ammonia in the exhaust gases is decomposed. Reduction, ammonia decomposition and oxidation may be effected in respective reactors 1, 2, 3 containing monolithic or particulate catalyst beds. Air is added through a pipe 6 upstream of the reactor 3. The reduction and ammonia decomposition may be effected in respective catalyst beds in a common reactor (8), Fig. 2 (not shown), or in a common catalyst bed in a reactor (9), Fig. 3 (not shown).
