Abstract

1390681 Terminals BULPITT & SONS Ltd 8 Aug 1973 [8 Aug 1972] 36861/72 Heading H2E An electric terminal suitable, e.g. for mounting in the casing of a rotary electric machine, comprises an electrically insulative sleeve 4 which can be force-fitted in an internallysplined hole 2 in the casing 1, and a bush 5 of metal having good electrical conductivity (e.g. brass) and having external splines 10 suitable for force-fitting in the sleeve 4. The bush has at one end a threaded axial hole carrying a headed screw 8, and at the other end means for electrically connecting a conductor, e.g. a second threaded hole and a brass screw 9, or a slot or flat for welding, brazing or soldering. The ends of the sleeve 4 project on either side of the casing 1, and the bush 5 projects from each end of the sleeve 4. Preferably the sleeve 4 initially has plain cylindrical inner and outer surfaces. The internal splines of the hole 2 and the external splines of the bush 5 are of similar sizes. The sleeve 4 can be made of a material such as fabric-reinforced phenol-formaldehyde laminate.
