Abstract
1388091 Colour television tubes HITACHI Ltd 11 Jan 1973 [19 Jan 1972] 1504/73 Heading H1D The colour selection electrode 1 of a colour television tube having stripe-shaped fluorescent areas has its corresponding stripe-shaped apertures 2 reinforced by spaced bridges 3 of smaller thickness than the electrode, such that the apertures are divided into sections 2a on the side facing the electrode gun, but merge into a continuous aperture on the side facing the screen, whereby the bridges reduce vibration of the electrode, while avoiding the introduction of halation by reflection of the electron beam and, during manufacture of the tube screen, permitting substantially uniform exposure of uninterrupted phosphor stripes by light projected through the electrode. The bridges may be of tapered shape, as shown, in Fig. 3; may be staggered with respect to those corresponding to adjacent stripes (Fig. 2, not shown); and may protrude above the plane of the electrode on the side facing the gun assembly (Fig. 5, not shown). The electrode may be produced by etching a steel plate; exemplary dimensions are given.
