1382426 Rotary positive-displacement machines DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd 18 May 1972 [18 May 1971] 15530/71 Heading F1F In an hydraulic gear-pump, or motor, with axially-pressure-loaded bearing-bushes 20. .23 supporting shafts 16. .19 for the gears 14, 15, the diameter of each bush is sufficiently less than that of a bore 54 in which it is lodged to provide a clearance 55 allowing liquid to flow from the highpressure port 13 into an aperture 50 to lubricate the respective shaft. Liquid issuing from the aperture 50 in each bush flows in opposite directions axially along the shaft into either a chamber 36 or 37 communicating with the low-pressure port 12 through a hole 48 or an annular recess 40, 41, 42 or 43. Pressure-loading chambers 34, 35 are sealed relative to the chambers 36, 37 by rings 31 and communicate with the port 13. Slots 39 determine the circumferential extent of high pressure areas on the faces of the bushes adjacent the gears. The bushes on at least one side of the gears may be united.
