Abstract

1382140 Valves GIRLING Ltd 10 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 35783/72 Heading F2V In a control valve assembly for incorporation in a vehicle hydraulic braking system comprising an inlet 86 and first, 89, and second, 96, outlets controlled by first, 90, and second, 102, valves, respectively, a piston 101 with a stem 100 of smaller diameter integral with the second valve closure member is operative in a bore 87 when the pressure in the first outlet exceeds a predetermined value to open the second valve, which valve is normally resiliently biased to the closed position. The piston comprises a tube which sealingly engages the stem. The first outlet leads into a pressure accumulator chamber 84 where the fluid acts on the end of the piston remote from the second valve and exits through a third outlet 99. The piston 83 of the chamber 84 is resiliently loaded by gas pressure or other means. The valve is suitable for use in a braking system where the inlet is connected to a pump, outlet 96 to a reservoir and outlet 99 to a brake circuit.
