Abstract

1377464 Cutting appliance T KOJIMA 11 June 1973 27763/73 Heading B4B A cutting appliance comprises a blade 14, 15 projecting from a casing 1, 7, and a retractable guard 9 which normally protects the cutting edge 15 of the blade but is retractable relative to the casing and the blade so as to expose the cutting edge. The blade is located in a slot 10 formed in the guard 9 and prevented from movement relative to the casing by a pin 3 engaging a hole 16 in the blade. The pin passes through an elongated slot 11 in the guard thereby permitting relative movement of the guard against the action of a spring 19. The amount of exposure of the cutting edge is determined by an adjusting screw 17, 18.
