Abstract

1376767 Discharging silos P CANTENOT 12 Oct 1972 [19 Oct 1971] 47079/72 Heading B8S Particulate material in a silo is fed to a discharge spout 4 by a screw 5 or a chain conveyer, mounted to rotate about a shaft 7, the spout 4 and the transmission for driving the screw being covered by a transverse hollow beam 10 which opens at apertures 12 in the side wall of the silo to permit access for maintenance purposes. In a modification (Figs. 4 and 5) material discharged from the silo falls into a casing (19) from which it is laterally transformed by a paddle (21) to a screw conveyer (23). In a further modification (Figs. 5 and 6) discharged material falls into a casing (19a) and is agitated by a paddle (21a) to fall into two pipes (23a) which merge at an outlet (24).
