Abstract
1365484 Producing circular polarization PLESSEY CO Ltd 10 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970] 56483/70 Heading H1W An arrangement for producing circular or elliptical polarization comprises a section of rectangular waveguide having each of one pair of opposed walls provided with transverse grooves. The grooves provide differential phase delay between orthogonal components of a plane wave propagated in the section. The drawing (not shown) illustrates a waveguide of square section provided with grooves of approximately square section and spacing equal to half their depth. Impedance matching may be provided by a gradual reduction of groove depth at either end of the section. It is stated that the arrangement is capable of broad-band operation.
