Abstract
1351350 Vehicle rear view mirrors FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 23 July 1971 34569/71 Heading B7J In a rear view mirror assembly for a motor vehicle, a glass or like reflective member 1 is mounted on and carried by the external surface of one wall 3 of a closed box 5 made of a plastics material, and the reflective member 1 is held thereon by a retainer ring 7 of plastics material; wall 3 and the opposed wall of the box 5 have a centrally located part spherical depression 9 and protuberance 11, respectively, in contact with each other; the depression 9 and protuberance 11 have aligned apertures 13; a cup-shaped member 15 is seated in the depression 9; a bolt 17 extends through the apertures 15 and an opening 19 in member 15; and a spring 21 is compressed between a washer 23 carried by the bolt 17 and the cup-shaped member 15 so that the friction between member 15 and depression 9 holds the box 5 in a selected angular relationship with the bolt 17. An attachment element 25 has a part-spherical socket 27 which is forced against the protruberance 11 by the bolt 17, and secured in a slot 35 of the element 25 is a tube 37 forming part of a C-shaped bracket for attachment to the body exterior of a commercial vehicle.
